Started for my children · built to help others

A properly paid first job.

Dorset Family Flyers began with my own children and a simple question: how could they earn money, build confidence and learn genuine responsibility at an age when suitable opportunities are hard to find?

Why this matters to us

Children are not an add-on to the business. They are the reason it exists.

I wanted to build the kind of first job I would want for my own children: properly paid, legally arranged, supported by parents and designed around safe, manageable local work.

What started within our family is intended to create the same opportunity for other responsible 14–15 year olds across BCP. We are building flexible weekend and school-holiday roles paid at £8 per hour, with real expectations, useful experience and encouragement along the way.

Legal employment

School-age distributors only start after the relevant local-authority permit and parent involvement are complete.

Safety first

Suitable daylight routes, safe-working guidance, permitted hours, a maximum 5kg carrying load and clear contact arrangements.

Private tracking

Routes use a private business Strava account. Young people do not need public personal accounts, and live locations are not published.
